Welcome to the Charlotte Wine & Food Weekend!

Over 4,000 people attended this year's charity events at Charlotte Wine & Food Weekend held May 7 through 10, presented by University Volvo.

The kick off was a $1000 a plate dinner in a private home with winemakers Sarah and Sparky Marquis and a Tapas Dinner with Guest Chef Adolfo Munoz at Las Ramblas. Thursday night twenty restaurants all over the city hosted private winemaker dinners for over 1400 guests – Charlotte's largest dinner party!

Big Bottles & Blues, sponsored by RBC Wealth Management, was held Friday night in the open air at Gateway Village Promenade and was a smashing success with over 600 people enjoying wines from over 60 vintners, fine cuisine with a Southern flair from Restaurant Associates, live music by Beth Chorneau and the Bob Foley Band and live & silent auctions.

Saturday's Vintner Tasting, also held at Gateway Village Promenade and sponsored by VIVA, hosted 500 people, who sipped wine from all the Weekend's participating vintners and enjoyed the sounds of RB3, affiliated with the Charlotte Symphony. Other events, including the 1000 Point Tasting (10 wines that have achieved perfect scores) and the Spanish, Australian and Italian tastings were held at The Westin, bringing some of the world's finest winemakers together for a series of educational seminars.

The weekend concluded with the Grand Live Auction and Gala Saturday evening, also at The Westin and sponsored by Accenture. That event culminated the charity's efforts raising over $1.6M in this fundraising period-- a record amount.

Designated charities for this year's events are Allegro Foundation, Charlotte Symphony, Hospitality House of Charlotte, Johnson & Wales University and Kindermourn. Including this year's events, Charlotte Wine & Food Weekend has raised over $3.5 million dollars for local charities since its inception in 1989.
